While preparing for the Fringe Fashion Show, I was able to participate in a photoshoot to create images to promote the show. A studio space was rented, hair and makeup artists arranged and models booked. The vibe of Fringe is pretty far from traditional bridal, so I chose a dramatic red beaded dress. Oil-slick cut beads are stipple stitched on printed floral chiffon and lined in red crepe de chine. The weight of the fabric after beading hangs close to the body and has seductive movement.
For a variety of looks during the photoshoot, we paired the dress with ruffle textured jacket and then switched to a large raw-edged scarf of silk chiffon. Working with an experienced photographer was amazing. Thinking back to all the projects I worked on over the past 20 years, there are so many that I wish I would have gotten better pictures of. Unfortunately, there are also so many that I have no pictures of.
One of the goals I have set for myself during the upcoming, slower winter months, is to gather old physical photos of past projects and get them scanned. I have also been making a more concentrated effort to take more photos of projects, both in progress and upon completion. Each project I work on has a file for needed details, swatches, etc; and I have now added a checklist line to serve as a reminder.
